Coming into being...
In our universe, we refer to the time before recording mechanisms as pre-history. Sea Free has a similar span of time: the time when humans existed… But we don’t really know what was going on. Sea Freesians seem no less curious than us about where they come from.
Through their cultural assimilation over millennia, the diverse religions of Sea Free have developed creation stories that drive their numerous religious sects and practices across the globe. The most common creation story we have found is that of
the Tiger Birth.
Who do you become when your multiple identities snap into place?
What is it like to birth your self – in all your contradictions, glories, failures and beauty?
Who/what/how would you be if you didn’t have to choose your identity from the ends of binaries?
Tiger Birth
In the Tiger Birth traditions, the universe is described as two interconnected places: * the Right Here, Now is everything that they can sense with their bodily functions in their daily lives. * the Over There is the spiritual realm that surrounds, penetrates and makes the Right Here, Now possible. The Over There is eternal and without time. The Right Here, Now captures the spiraling present moment. The Over There can be sensed by bodily functions.
In this exhibit, we spent time reflecting on what just ONE Sea Free religion thinks about the creation of their universe.
As we began to receive communications from Sea Free, we were compelled to explore the Tiger Birth mythos. Listen! This is but a pittance of the richness of the Sea Free universe and yet it has taken us 3 years to collect enough stories to cross reference with any certainty this shards. They are small, and thin, but precious to us at these early stages of our digital museum.
From exploration to exhibit
Our quest to discover the Tiger Birth story, and the origins of Sea Free's own mythologies, eventually led us to want to exhibit the things we'd collected.

To swim in the waters of our first public exhibit! This was a multimedia and interactive exhibit focused on sharing our connections with Sea Free – a universe parallel to our own where humans evolved without binary identities. The exhibit immersed visitors in artefacts inspired by this creation story.
